About Helical Anchors

Helical Anchors, also described as helical screw piles, Helical piers have been in use since the early 1800′s when they were used to to support Lighthouses and harbour piers on the east coast of America. Those days it was made out of cast iron and with modern technology and science, the concept got converted to steel. Today, Helical Anchors are made out of steel and then galvanized to perfection for longer life span to meet its purpose of requirements.

Helical Anchors are a fast, economical method and is ideal for sites with unstable soil as it gives minimal soil disturbance by eliminating vibration during installation.

Helical Anchors are constructed using steel shafts with circular flights. It is made using both Seamless tubes and Round edged cornered shafts. The shafts are advanced to bearing depth by twisting them into the soil while monitoring torque to estimate the pile capacity. A thorough understanding of the subsurface conditions is necessary to properly interpret the torque conversion.

Designed as both compression piles and tension anchors, they offer a fast, versatile and sustainable option for many comparably lightly loaded structures including fresh foundations, roadside signs, single-storey extensions and piers, where ground conditions suit. They are also commonly used on the railways, at the side of motorways and other such locations where downtime and/or access is restricted as they can installed quickly using either a hand-held or mini excavator mounted torque motor.
